3 years...

it's my last day at realization today. i first joined the company on november 1, 2006, so it's a teeny weeny little bit more than 3 years on this job. am having very mixed feelings at the moment. i cant say i enjoyed every single moment of it, but looking back, i treasure every single moment of it - including the being away from home and long rides on the planes...

i learnt and grew alot from this experience. i learnt more about myself, more about what i want in life, more about who and what i am made of. i learnt how to create opportunities for myself to shine, and grab those opportunities when they came along. i learnt how to stay sane in this crazy world of last minute notices, uncertainty of next/current project assignments, extreme idleness and extreme hectic moments, being in foreign lands more than being home, having to maintain and grow an ldr...

i will not be regretting this decision to go, even though it hurts really bad to take this step. the hardest thing to leave behind is all the friendships i've built over the last few years. i kept telling myself it's not goodbye, that i'll see these folks again, and tried to maintain my cheerful and fun self when announcing my departure and bidding my byes.. but as i sit here and write this note, i realize i cannot fool myself. it's really a goodbye. i hope i'll get to cross paths again with them at some point later in my life.

the next hardest thing to leave behind is my bosses. they are really the best bosses one can get. these guys gave me the opportunity to shine and grow, valued me for who i am, treated me like a little friend, and created a challenging, stimulating & interesting environment for me to work in. okay, i know my sample size is a little small, but i'll just say that i wish my next bosses are as good as them, if not better! :)

however, i don't think i'll be able to maintain my sanity and learn and grow at such amazing speeds if not for my very supportive fiance. no, he was not entirely supportive all the time, but he was definitely there all the time. he was my one source of stability in all this chaos. don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that my friends and family have not provided me with support when i needed it, but he's become that one person i go to for everything, except in the times when he is contributing to my chaos of course! :D okay, i think i can hear him argue that i am the cause of him contributing to my chaos, so it's not entirely his fault. moving on.

so i want to take this chance to thank you my darling, for bearing with my nonsense of trying to build a relationship over telephone lines and lousy internet connections, across vast oceans and lands, during inconvenient time differences. i know it's been more difficult for you than for me over the last three years, having to live with the consequences of my decision.. and i appreciate all that you have done for me. i hope this decision will be good for both of us. i know it's going to be good for me because i really want to start living again and get some stability back into my life. the travelling has already taken a toll on my health and my relationships, i really need to recuperate and heal the disintegrating relationships i've sacrificed over the years.. i guess it'll be good for you too? :)

i've reached a milestone in my life - i quit my first job! :) it feels really sad, yet very liberating at the same time. i feel so grown up, having taken this step. i think i'll feel even more grown up when i say "i do" 4 months from now.

wish me best of luck my faithful readers (however many of you left), as i sleep my mornings away, work through the details of my wedding preparations and hdb renovations, ponder about my next job, and embark on my next job hunt! :)
