i got married! :)
it was supposed to be simple. we initially only wanted to invite our immediate family peeps to grace the occasion, but i couldnt bear not sharing the joy with my cousins and aunts and uncles who grew up with me and watched me grow up! so we decided to extend the invitation to everybody.. that's how the 10-person affair became a 70-person affair!
we held the solemnization at our half-renovated new flat! (it was his idea!) it so happened that it was cny when we ROMed and they stopped work anyway, so we got our contractor to help us clean up the house a little and finish most of the floor work so that we could use the space! it's pretty cool actually! :) cos the address of our ROM venue appears in our marriage certificate! and also cos it's just cool! :) hee!
the first task we had to do was to come up with the invitation cards.. cos this was not part of the wedding package, we decided to make them ourselves! :) we used these name-card sized photo cards that came with our wedding package for the cover of our cards, bought nice construction paper and printed the insides of our card on our own! :) i must say that it's pretty professionally done hahaha! :)
then we had to source for my dress! i admit i'm pretty cheapskate, so i refuse to spend too much money on the dress, and i don't want to spend too much money on makeup/hair either! so we settled for a $100+ dress we found at toa payoh central, and i took jianing shopping with me for a hair-band kinda thing so that it will keep my hair in place! that morning, jianing straightened my hair for me and helped me check/touch-up my make-up so that i looked pretty! :) the necklace i wore was a birthday present for my 21st birthday (i think haha!) and the ear-rings were from jianing - my first gifted pair of earrings after i pierced my ears in 2006. and of course i was wearing our engagement ring :) the one he made for me hehe :)

as for him, i wanted him to 配合 my dress, so kinda insisted that he wear a pale yellow shirt with a red tie :) he wanted to wear the blue tie with cufflings his sister bought for him, but somehow it didn't really go well together.. nevermind! red for cny! haha :) thanks pok for agreeing to my request! :) muaks! :)
in the week leading up to the wedding, we went to the house to clean it 3 times! we swept, dusted and mopped.. and then we decorated! :) cos the walls of the house are not painted yet, we thought it would be fun to draw on the walls! we decided to use chalk because we didn't want to make it too hard for our contractor to paint...

we also used our wall as our guest-book so that our guests also have the chance to re-live their silly childhood days and draw on walls! :)

and just to complete this section on decoration, i spent some 7 hours before the wedding picking through old photos of us, photo-shopping away my pimples, sending the photos for development and creating this collage! 6 years of memories! :) i must mention that it was also our 6th anniversary that day! happy anniversary! :)
our guests were very punctual, some arriving even almost one hour before the ceremony started! we served them drinks from david's ice-box (left-overs from cny), displayed our wedding photoshoot album for their viewing pleasure and basically allowed them to roam around the house and interact and entertain themselves! :)
i'm very happy with our solemnizer Mr. Chan! he was early, serious, yet appropriately humorous! here's a picture of him raising our marriage certificate and stating solemnly that the cert is for the wife to keep!
we read/wrote our own vows! okay, we did not really write our own vows.. we kinda ripped it off of some webpage with samples of vows (all hail the mighty internet!).. of course we tweaked it and made it ours :) oh and then we printed it out on nice forever friends letter paper, signed on it, and laminated it! :)

he started first.. he was quite nervous ha! Mr. Chan asked him to take my left hand and read the vows to me, but he couldn't tell my left hand from right hand and i had to point to him which was the right hand! haha :) okay now i'm confusing myself.. i meant i had to point to him which was the CORRECT hand!
and then it was my turn... you cant really see from this picture, but i teared up as i was reading the vows... i didn't think i'll cry actually, but as i was reading the vows, the tears just came, together with this feeling of "wow... we've come so far together, and we are going to be together forever... wow".. the words didn't exactly float in my head at that time.. it's quite amazing that even though i did not think about what i was feeling, i could feel it running through me and just feel its awesomeness... i love you pokpok..
i think my mom (the one in red) and dad were very happy that day :) just look at their smiles! either that, or Mr. Chan was really humorous!
after some photo-taking, no it's alot of photo-taking, we proceeded to the restaurant! after the ceremony, we came down to his car and put up our "just married" sign! :) i made this with the help of wanting jiejie 2 days before! haha another very professional piece of work i must say! thank you very much wanting jiejie once again! :) david was in charge of the cans that trailed behind his car! very US-style! haha :) apparently it is illegal in singapore.. i think the 7 minute drive to the restaurant was the worst 7 minutes in david's life! haha he was so kancheong the whole time, worried the cans may fall off or a cop my stop us! heh :) but it was all good! :)
as we drove to the restaurant, geoffrey took a photo of us from their car! :) in fact, most of the photos you see here are from him! :) he is either biased towards me or he's just not standing where he could take good pics of david haha.. as you can see, i'm more like the center of attraction! no wonder i can keep looking at the photos and david only looked at them once! :)

here's us with some of my cousins after lunch.. everyone looked so happy! not everyone was there but it's been quite a long time since most of us were there... i miss the days when we hanged out at nanhu every weekend! we still do! just that not everyone turns up now...
