our meet-up began on a suay note! i planned it such that my plane will arrive at 10.30am from tlv while his will arrive at 11am from sg. but there was something wrong with the engine of my plane so i got delayed by 3 hours! (heng ah, lucky we din fly in my plane, if not i think we would have crashed! thanks pilot! though i will not fly continental again if possible!) and he din bring his fone cos it wasnt tri-band! so there was no way to leave him a voice mail or sms him! boo.. i felt bad to worry him in case he cannot find me, and also felt guilty cos now he has to wait for me aimlessly at the airport after such a long flight! so anw, clever me recorded a voice mail greeting msg in a very professional tone to indicate that my flight was delayed: "hi, this is jia. i'm currently on my flight to san francisco which has been delayed. i will only be contactable again at about 2.30pm, so either call me again then or leave me a msg and i'll get back to you asap!" and yay he got it! =) so when we finally met it was a huge relief! =) and i was very very happy! =D though that poor thing was waiting for me (read book, sleep...) for about 4 hours instead of 3 cos his flight landed early and he cleared the customs very quickly!
the one and a half weeks passed really quickly.. i had to work so he was mostly sleeping off his jetlag in the day and meeting me for lunch/pick me up early from work for the first few days, then the weekend came and we took a drive down to monterrey and santa cruz =) we took quite a few pictures (my camera was surprisingly working then), but only realized that we got tricked by my camera cos most of the pics were gone.. boo!
we only left for monterrey quite late in the aftnoon cos we were watching the UM-OSU game in the morning.. (that was another boo..) we only got to monterrey at about 4pm.. as we were quite tired from the driving + getting up early to watch the game + jetlag, and there was a huge fog that loomed over the city, we decided to sleep till dinner and only walk around the next day.. dinner was nice! =) we shared a surf 'n' turf thing with lamb (was it lamb? can't rem) and lobster and giant scallops, a tuna salad thingy, and a cocktail =) the food was great, the atmosphere was nice and we had a good time! later we walk-walk at the shops around the area.. it's a smaller version of fisherman's wharf in sfo, but still nice, not over-crowded and filled with tourists! and we had a frozen chocolate banana for dessert! (we took pictures! i rem! but they are gone!)
the next day we went to the 17-mile drive.. okay.. u'll have to imagine this too cos the pics are all gone too.. the waves, the calm waters, the pelicans, the sun peeping through the canopy, the clam shell beach.. okay now i'm slightly upset about losing those pics!! i din remember how many pictures i've taken before this recap! anw, lucky for us, the few pictures that had us inside have been selectively preserved by my darling camera..

after the 17 mile drive along pebble beach, we headed to the mystery spot in santa cruz! it's called mystery spot cos the gravitational force seems to act weirdly in this area.. i din take any pictures of the phenomena cos it was difficult to capture, so we just enjoyed the experience =) at the mystery spot, the balls roll upwards, and we leaned over apparently at an angle greater than normal, but we dun fall down and dun notice it.. the websites explained that it's visual illusion, but the mystery spot people did not confirm he findings.. it's still pretty amazing, this illusion, cos we went in knowing about it but still got caught!

not sure if it's cos of the experience at mystery spot, but i felt weird and a little sick after getting out of there.. even after lunch at a pizza/pasta place (he wanted to eat american pizza!) my stomach was still feeling queasy.. so we couldnt take any rides at the santa cruz boardwalk and went to the arcade instead! haha i really like going to the arcade with him, it's so fun! =) next time then we go ride roller coaster together ok! heh! oh and we were also pretty cheap-thrilled to find 1.5 hours of parking credit in the meter from the person before us! muahaha! free parking!
nothing much else happened for the rest of the visit, but it was a very special time.. to have him come down and pick me up from work everyday, get to noe my friends from work and have thanksgiving bbq with them, cook simple meals together, accompany me on my trench coat hunt, pei him on his bino hunt, fall asleep and wake up, go to the movies, eat fatty donuts from krispie kreme together.. basically just to be around for each other... it felt really nice and i was very happy =)
i think i was suffering from slight depression a week after we parted.. think the over-sleeping and lethargy were some of the effects, pimple popping another.. and it's really at times like these that i want to just pack up and leave for home.. hopefully i'll at least get to spend cny at home nxt year!
