guys: if you don't mind the embarrassment of reading this on a public computer, please go ahead
and so, the time of the month is arriving again. all the symptoms are showing: achy body, feeling fat, pimples popping, b**ps hurting, dream-filled nights, hmm.. surprisingly no pms yet.
the most feared of all during menses is of course the cramps that come with it. my mama's instructions are to not eat 凉 stuff and not drink/eat cold stuff, and my aunt's instructions are to not drink tea. i dunno how they work though, not especially since my michigan years, where the cramps have not stopped all this time. i blame it on the change of weather, but that doesnt seem right either. there were a couple of times during which either i flew from michigan to singapore or singapore to michigan that the cramps stopped. hallelujah!
and so i consulted my friend google a couple of months back to find remedies. not to my surprise though, there was nothing about not eating 凉 stuff or not drinking/eating cold stuff, since these were probably chinese remedies that would not appear in google search results. i found something that surprised me however, there were remedies online to drink certain types of tea to prevent cramps, or soothe cramps even!
so tea or no tea?
a chinese sin-seh once told me and my mama that cold and 凉 stuff apparently cause the blood to clot, inducing the contracting action in the uterus -- cramps. my aunt when she told me not to drink tea before menses din actually relate it to cramps, she just said that tea induces more blood flow during menses (which is almost just as undesirable).
but does more blood flow = no blood clots = less contracting action in the uterus = no cramps?
if that's the case, i'm sorry for stopping you from drinking bubble tea the last time...
i need to find out exactly what i should do to avoid the cramps during menses! but in the meantime, warm showers, heat and pressure on the crampy area, sleep, panadol and blue pills (not viagra hor) work for me to relieve the pain..
and so i'll begin my research on this important topic and update you with results when i have some! =)
p.s. happy children's day! =)
